Zitong, a 17 year old from Accra, Ghana has been a lifelong environmentalist.  In his community, the issue of littering and pollution is heavily prevalent.  With most of the coast being covered in litter, Zitong decided he wanted to become a changemaker in his community and help alleviate the impacts that pollution was having on his community.

With this drive to create change, Zitong came to CMHQ and enrolled in our beach clean up initiative.  We found Zitong, a team of fellow youth who were equally as passionate about fixing the pollution problem in Accra, provided avenues to access the resources needed to clean up the beaches and organized the logistics of finding a location where the clean up took place.

With all of those factors taken care of by CMHQ, Zitong and the team went out and completed the beach clean up.  Filling up several bags of garbage, and leading to a significantly cleaner coast and a positive impact for his community.

“Seeing our team fill up so many bags with trash was a surreal feeling, we were making important impact”

For ambitious youth wanting to lead service initiatives in your communities, CMHQ provides curriculums, connections, and a team, so you can focus on the impact that truly matters. Start leading in your community today.
