Justin Vu, a dedicated high school student from San Diego, California, has always been passionate about supporting his community and making education accessible for everyone. Recognizing the struggles that many students with learning disabilities face in mastering math, Justin set out to create a tutoring initiative aimed at providing personalized, one-on-one math support for young learners in his community.

With the support of CMHQ, Justin's project quickly gained traction. CMHQ supported him through each step of the planning process, assisting with logistics, recruiting volunteers, and securing a location at the Otay Ranch Public Library in Chula Vista, CA. Numbers for All runs every Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 PM, with volunteer tutors from high schools and colleges. Students are divided into three groups based on grade level—K-5, 6-8, and 9-12—to receive customized support. The youngest group focuses on arithmetic, middle school students work on pre-algebra and geometry, and high school students tackle more advanced topics like trigonometry and calculus.

The program’s personalized approach has already made a strong impact, with families noticing improvements in students' confidence and math skills. "Our goal is to make math approachable and build confidence," says Justin.

For young people like Justin who are passionate about making an impact in their community, CMHQ provides the support, tools, and mentorship needed to bring visions to life. Join us today and take the first step toward creating positive change in your own community.
